The Computer Program grew out of a need to better prepare our students for the demanding and fast-paced environment of university life. It is not enough to offer students comprehensive classes in math, science, reading and writing. Our courses are structured so that students in the Academic Bridge Program will be asked to think critically, to ask questions and to make responsible choices.

The Computer program helps to empower students to prepare for change. Each student that completes our program will enter the university better prepared to study. Knowing what is necessary to be successful, they will be better able to handle university demands effectively and efficiently.

The Computer and Multimedia courses are arranged to provide an introduction to the Windows XP operating system, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Outlook mail. In addition, they will learn keyboarding and be introduced to computer vocabulary.  These are the programs and skills that our students need to be successful at a university. The computer courses are organized to reinforce and support other classes being taught in the Academic Bridge Program.

The goals of the Computer curriculum are to improve our students' use of hardware and software so that they can function effectively in a university environment.

We are dedicated to helping students use technology to locate, evaluate and collect information from a variety of sources.

We test each skill to determine if a student has mastered the required abilities using a variety of means, such as computer projects, skills tests, and individual performance observations.

The impact of computers on the future of our world will only increase and the better our students understand their role and uses, the better they can utilize these tools.
