On Tuesday, November 13, 2007, the Academic Bridge Program of the Qatar Foundation hosts its annual Open House (Parents' Night).
The event usually attracts a large number of families of ABP students. Members of the ABP Board of Governors, QF officials, and representatives of various universities in Education City and Doha also participate in the parents' evening.
The ABP Open House offers parents of its students an opportunity to talk with the faculty and staff to discuss their sons and daughters' academic progress and chances of gaining entry to college. They also meet with their s sponsors and representatives from different colleges in Qatar to find out more about university admission processes and requirements.
The ABP, working in close cooperation with the universities of the Education City, is a unique institution in the country, offering young Qataris a vital transition between Arabic high schools and western colleges. Transition to university life can often be stressful not only for students, but also for their families. The Academic Bridge Program believes that parents play a most significant role in easing that transition. The Program is keen to foster parents' support and actively encourages their interest in the students' educational opportunities and choices available in Qatar and abroad.
