Academic Bridge Program

ABP's Iftar and celebration of Garangao

The Academic Bridge Program, a center for Qatar Foundation, holds an Iftar and Garangao celebration for all its students, faculty, staff and all their families in the LAS building, in Education City. This event is organized as part of the ABP's initiative to promote the Qatari culture and heritage and preserve Islamic values.

It is worth mentioning that the event is entirely organized by ABP students. The Ramadan Committee is  hard at work since the beginning of Ramadan, preparing for the occasion. The ABP building is decorated in a traditional way for the event. Bags are filled with candy and nuts. There is music and games like tug-of -war and activities like henna and face painting. All of these activities add a sense of tradition and festivity to the occasion. The LRC (Learning and Resource Center) is decorated to represent four different neighborhoods so that the children and students wearing their traditional costumes can go from one neighborhood to the other collecting the candy.

The Iftar is an opportunity for non-Qatari and/or non-Muslim ABP faculty, staff and students to get acquainted with and experience the spirit and tradition of Ramadan and to share in this occasion of friendly bonding.
